Title: Genomics and the Age of Information

Abstract:

Biology is undergoing an unprecedented information explosion that would be impossible without computers. We are just at the beginning of the profound impact genomics will have. Our ability to analyze the vast amount of data that is continuously being generated, including their visualization, has become possible due to the accelerated development of biotechnology and computers. In this lecture we will examine the history of genomic science and recent developments in this area including genetic components of disease, human history, DNA editing and race.
